Das Val Travenanzes in den östlichen Dolomiten bietet eine gewaltige Eiskulisse. Es handelt sich hierbei um einen etwa 200 Meter hohen Felsriegel, der auf einer Breite von etwa 400 Metern mit unzähligen Eislinien überzogen ist.
Zurecht trägt die Königspitze diesen majestätischen Namen. Mit ihrem markanten pyramidenartigen Gipfelaufbau dominiert sie die gesamte Ortlergruppe und überzeugt uns von der erhabenen Schönheit der Berge.
Der Kontrast zwischen der Gebirgsgruppe der Dolomiten mit ihren steilen Karen und weiten Hochflächen und den wilden Bergen am Alpenhauptkamm könnte kaum größer sein. Beide Gebiete eignen sich jedoch hervorragend für Skitouren.
Die Sella-Gruppe ist wahrscheinlich eines der bekanntesten Dolomitenziel und dafür gibt es viele gute Gründe: Fester, griffiger Fels, kurze Zustiege, eine riesige Routenauswahl von leichten Klassikern bis zu modernen Extremklettereien.
